A Note From Our Pastor...

I pray you take the time out of your busy day to soak up all of the beauty our creator has provided for you. When you begin to   acknowledge God's handiwork all around you, you'll begin to appreciate the work God is doing within you. God bless you.

Over the next few months I'll be following up with you via email and our UMC-MV website. Our monthly "Flame" newsletter is a great way to communicate what's going on in the life of the church. More immediate ways to call attention to programming changes or additions is with our Sunday Worship bulletin and with digital notices like this one. There is a lot going on now and even more is on the horizon.

If you have any ideas for topics or issues that need clarification, please let me know by sending an email with your comments.

"When You Help Others, There's No Stopping the Holy Spirit"

A few years ago, Jen Fiore, Christian Education and Youth Coordinator, had an idea. What if the church could host an outreach clothing ministry that offered new or gently-used clothing for little or no cost? In her daily work, Jen sees struggling youth and families all the time. Perhaps a ministry like this could help make someone's life a little easier.

Jen & I sat down to pray about this new ministry and discussed our options for space and resources. I had heard about a similar ministry that the Faith Fellowship UMC in Mansfield, MA had started called "Clothes to Go." The Spirit led us to contact Corlis Moniz, that program's Director. Soon afterward, our own "Clothes to Go" opened at the Trinity Parish House in Oak Bluffs every Saturday Morning. The Spirit moved through our congregations and throughout the community to prompt almost endless donations of clothing. The more clothing we gave away the more the Lord replenished our inventory. That's how the Lord works, returning tenfold when we give openly and freely to the Lord's work.

"Clothes to Go" has settled in it's new location at Christ Mission Life Center (the "Stone Church") after outgrowing the Trinity Parish House, and the move has allowed this ministry to operate alongside the Island Food Pantry, another ministry serving the needs of the community which has operated successfully for many years. Summer Hours are Wednesdays 2 to 4 PM and Saturdays 9 - 11 AM. Clothes to Go is always looking for volunteers, and if interested contact Jen Fiore at 508-801-0889. Let's continue to pray for Clothes to Go and may they continue to be led by the Spirit, while we continue to allow the Spirit to move through our church family. Jesus calls each of us to do our part in connecting the hurting people of this world with the life-changing, life-giving power of Jesus Christ.

Painting is Finished at Trinity Worship Center

Affordable Services, a business overseen by our Organist Ed Rose, has begun work on sanding and painting the trim at Trinity Worship Center. The east side of the building (facing Circuit Ave.) has been completed, and the rest of the building was finished by June 30th. Also, the steps leading to the main entrance to the worship center have been worked on by another contractor and were completed at the end of June.
